Call To Action:
To: MRF, All States SMRO

From: Vince Consiglio, President, ABATE of Michigan
RE: “Call to Action” Motorcycle Helmet Law Modification in Michigan

ABATE of Michigan would like the help of all motorcyclists in their fight for freedom. Senate Bill 291 passed the Michigan Senate in late June. We are asking all rights activists to send a post card to Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder urging him to support motorcycle helmet choice for adults. A postcard from a “FREE” State may help him realize Michigan loses motorcycle money every day of the summer with a mandatory helmet law. Governor Snyder prides himself on being all about business and helping business. Please urge Governor Snyder to support adult choice.

MAIL to: Governor Rick Snyder, State Capital
                P.O. Box 30013, Lansing, Michigan 48909

                E-mail and/or Phone information

Thanks for helping us in our efforts.
          Thanks again,
Vince Consiglio, President, ABATE of Michigan

Sample Letter.....
Governor Snyder,
S.B. 291 has passed through Michigan's legislature and is now awaiting your signature to become law. This bill gives adult motorcyclists the right to choose helmet use or not. I support this bill and would appreciate your signing this bill into law.

We are half way through the legislative cycle here in Ohio. We have movement on the handlebar bill and the handlebar bill thanks to the tireless work of Scott Wood, our State Legislative Director. Be ready to roll into action early in 2012 to get these passed. With it being a Presidential election year things are going to slow down. People will be more worried about getting reelected than passing bills........( Read more....)

......11-14-2011 I am being told that 7 different people were issued $146 tickets for having vertically mounted tags on their bikes at a bike nite in Cincinnati this past weekend. Anyone else heard anything similar in other parts of the state ?........
It’s the end of the year already. The craziness of the holiday season is here. That also means that a new year is right around the corner. The pressure is on the legislators to make some good things happen, in order for them to be re-elected. Let’s make sure they know about the issues we are interested in.. ( Read more )

Dear Friends,
There has been a great deal of interest in who won the raffle bike. This is the quickest way that I can disseminate the info:
Mr. J D Hill, of Butler County, (near Dayton) was the winner. He bought ticket number 2500 from me at the Blessing of the Bikes in Dayton, on the rain date. J D claimed the bike, trailer, and the check on the Sunday after the drawing. I have sent out pictures of the presentation to the Outspokin' and the webmaster...and I am currently working on sending them to the Margaritaville website.
Please pass this info along to the membership, and thank them for making the effort in making this year's bike raffle/fund raiser another success. Without all of you participating this would never have been possible. THANK YOU ALL!!!!
The Raffle Committee is currently "shopping" for the 2012 prize package...stay tuned. It is our goal to unveil this package at the upcoming State Seminar, with tickets to be available at the January BOD. Stay tuned for details.

    Respectfully,
    Jim 'Bushman' Sprague

Tired of sitting on your bike at Red Lights
that won't turn GREEN ????
For the past several months, ODOT has worked closely with the American Motorcycle Association to target automated traffic signals that are not sensitive enough to recognize when a motorcycle or scooter is waiting for a light to change.
To enlist the help of Ohio’s motorcyclists, ODOT set up a special phone number & E-mail for motorcyclists for reporting problem intersections. When reports come in, ODOT will notifiy signal owners – often a city or county – about the situation and offer recommendations for improvement.
