2. Legislative issues. 3. Last year Purple Heart motorcycle licenses plate bill passed. But State has no money to make them. ABATE has asked the cost of the first thousand we are waiting for a response. 4. Our angled parking bill passed and enacted 29th of june 2011 before that it was illegal to back into an angled or parallel spot law read front tire of vehicle had to be a foot from the curb. 5. We have introduced Handle bar height bill. It is house Bill 316. Now 15 inches or higher from the lowest part of seat is illegal. 6. Right of way bill S.B.92 is to give judges in a right of way violation greater ability to sentence someone if they get it reduced to a minor misdemeanor. Accidents do happen this is not mandatory sentencing it just lets the judge decide if someone is killed or seriously injured. 7. What is a motorcycle in Ohio vehicle with 2 or 3 wheels is considered motorcycle. But we don’t want enclosed 3 wheeled vehicle stats combined with ours because they are generally being used for commercial use. 8. Left turn at light signal will not detect motorcycle. We are working with ODOT to try and correct bad lights people need to report them at our state web site ABATE.com or ODOT’s website. If this doesn’t help we are considering legislation to allow motorcycles to turn left at a safe time. 9. Colerain police giving tickets for licenses plates being displayed in a way they say they can’t read them because they were mounted vertically. Ohio law says they just have to be displayed in plain view. 10. Motorcycles are considered seasonal vehicles by the Ohio bureau of motor vehicles along with trailers so if they try to charge you a late fee don’t pay it. Let them know it is a seasonal vehicle could save you 20 dollars. 11. Safety and education- 12. Motorcycle awareness classes for kids taking driver education class’s .Also worked with Ohio department of transportation and public safety to get our class material implemented into driver ed classes before that there was only one sentence dedicated to motorcycle awareness. 13. Helped host destination Cyclesafe. To make the general public more aware of motorcycles. 14. Charities 15. ABATE OF OHIO REGION 5 helped one way farm, Cincinnati zoo , American cancer society, Ronald McDonald house. Clinton County Ho Ho shop and Shriners burn center. 16. We need members to step up, help out, become officers and make a difference.
