Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signs bill
legalizing earphone, earplug use by motorcyclists

BIG THANKS(!!) to Representative Riordan T. McClain and his crew, who introduced this bill.

As we move into the second half of the 116th Congress, we still have more work to do to advance our 2020 legislative priorities.  With your help, we can make sure that Congress takes steps to help end the unfair profiling of motorcyclists around the country. The Motorcycle Riders Foundation is working with the State Motorcycle Rights Organizations (SMRO), the National Council of Clubs (NCOC), the Motorcycle Profiling Project (MPP) and the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM) on the passage of H.Res. 255.

Let's keep the momentum going and ask the U.S. House of Representatives to join their colleagues in the U.S. Senate to pass H.Res. 255. If you have answered our previous calls to action over the past year on motorcyclist profiling, please make sure you click the take action button for our updated profiling engagement!  We currently have over 125 bipartisan cosponsors and we would like to increase that number to signal to Congress that this issue is still important to the bikers in America.  If your representative is already a cosponsor, the system will send them a thank you on your behalf which also encourages them to ask their colleagues in the House of Representatives to join them.

TAKE ACTION NOW: Tell Congress that targeting a motorcyclist because of their clothes, cut or motorcycle is discriminatory and needs public attention. Support H.Res. 255.

 Take Action

(3-19-2020)     Here we are back at what most people call the beginning of bike season. March has Daytona Bike Week, Motorcycle Ohio started training the trainers and we are starting to see warmer weather. Unfortunately we already have motorcycle crash statistics. 2019 must have been a little colder out from January first to February 22, 2019 with 10 crashes and 1 fatality. The same dates this year show 42 crashes and 2 fatalities. Something even more frightening, 7 are drug or alcohol related. This can make for a bad year....................................( Read more....)

' (3-19-2020)     Thanks to Kolman Fuzy for an excellent Seminar. I was great to hear people’s input on the direction of ABATE of Ohio. A little socializing was just the recharge the old batteries needed during this more wet than cold Winter. I was deeply honored to receive the “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Thank you, but I’m not done. As long as I have fight left in me it will be for the rights, freedoms and safety of the bikers in the great state of Ohio. Mark your calendar and be ready for the May Awareness Rally. Maybe we can wake up a few drivers and a few legislators..............( Read more....)

(3-19-2020)   Here in Ohio, now that HB 129 is signed, we are dealing with HB 445, which will clarify that a motorcycle may have a modulating headlight that meets federal standards, SB 279, which would generally prohibit the use of electronic wireless devices while driving, HB 400, which authorizes a non refundable income tax credit for the retail sale of high-ethanol blend motor fuel and two bills-one in the House and one in the Senate that would make distracted driving a primary offense. All of these bills have a direct impact on motorcyclists and will be examined and watched closely with appropriate action taken as needed............... ( Read more )

Tired of sitting on your bike at Red Lights
that won't turn GREEN ????
To enlist the help of Ohio’s motorcyclists, ODOT set up a special phone number & E-mail for motorcyclists for reporting problem intersections.
When reports come in, ODOT will notifiy signal owners ( often a city or county ) about the situation and offer recommendations for improvement.
